It is my cuarto día in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and I’m halfway through my time here. Flying back to SG on Wednesday.
Sitting at a cafe right now accessing the internet and trying to register my subjects for next semester. I got the timing wrong! I thought subject registration was at 12:30 SG time so I got to the cafe at 12:20 only to realize that it’s actually at 1:30. So I have to sit at this cafe for another hour. Not that it matters though. I don’t have anything else to do, except maybe think about my final year project, which is the only reason why I’m here in Cambodia.
I’m trying to register for Spanish Level 2 and also Photo Imaging, which is proving to be rather impossible. If that doesn’t work out, I’ll have to take Band as a UE again and I’m not really looking forward to that. Not that I mind playing all that much, I just think that I won’t be able to motivate myself to attend practices on Friday evenings. Plus I much rather play the English horn but they already have someone playing that.
Registration for next semester has convinced me that I’m in the wrong university, and possibly in the wrong course. Or maybe I’m just tired of studying. But it’s seriously hard to find subjects that I want to take. The bulk of the subjects available are scientific and engineering types, which I have no interest in and hardly any flair for. That said, NTU is the only university that offers communications. And increasingly, I’ve felt like communications was a wrong choice for me.
I should have insisted on reading law in UK. I was really hoping to make it to Durham.
But I guess it is too late to think about that now. I do not think I’ll be furthering my studies. At least not in the next cinco-diez años.
Unless. Well, it really depends.
I’d much rather think about my long long long grad trip, which will start in May to London, Paris and Rome. Then on to Stockholm to visit my Swedish friends, Switzerland to visit Mario (and Toby and Chris). Mario suggested heading to Prague together. And I also hope to visit Vienna and Salzburg. Germany and Amsterdam are optional. But I’ll be spending at least a month in Spain, for sure. And crossing over to Morocco. Another month in wine country — Italy and southern France.
Couple of weeks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
And then on to Central and South America: Mexico, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Ecuador, Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
About three weeks in Australia: Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and finalmente Perth.
Back in Singapore in November, perhaps? And then maybe backpacking around Southeast Asia with Naomi.
Hmm. By the time I actually settle down and look for a job, the economy might be booming again. =)

wow that IS a long grad trip. i never heard of any asian grad doing that long a trip… only know of the ang mohs doing it. i hope you have fun. i wish i can go back to the states to visit my friends soon too.
Hey May! Yeah I’ve been thinking of doing a round the world trip for quite some time. Wanderlust… And thought maybe now is a good time – since I’m still under 26 and can qualify for youth backpacking discounts… Plus the job market looks bleak.
I’m trying to plan my trip so that I can visit people and bunk in with them at the same time!
