Quit school

21 03 2006
Here I am, at bloody 5.22 a.m., writing my marketing case analysis assignment which was due on 17th Feb. Yes, that was a month ago. And I’m not ashamed to say that I had no intention of doing it, much less handing it up. The reason being that this assignment is non-assessed and thus, carries no marks. And me, being of very practical nature, decided that this assignment was rather worthless and would have been a waste of precious time. Especially since it came during a busy period.

Why am I sacrificing my sleep to do the assignment now, you might be asking. Well. My tutor singled me out after class last week to question me about the assignment and, like most other teachers I’ve known, was calculative, pushy and lacked tolerance & understanding. Moral of the story is: give equal respect to all assignments, even if they don’t contribute a freaking 0.01% to the semester’s grades because teachers are gei gao and the smallest things in life matter to them. Enough said.

Shudders run down my spine when I consider the thought of having six more semesters to go before I actually graduate. It’s only been a little less than two semesters and I have entertained the thought of quitting school. I’m sure every undergrad feels the same way.

Can’t believe I’ll say this Daph but, I miss your wit. I’ll even look pass the fact that it comes delivered with a voice very much like Nanny Fine’s.

Hang in there, Gladys. And Ting, how are the interviews going? Kel, stay out of trouble.

Here’s my new alarm clock that I received for my birthday. Told you its bigger than my head. And trust me, its blardy loud too.

You know there comes some point in time when the brain gets super saturated and it feels like it cannot absorb anymore? I’ve felt that feeling many times recently. Don’t get me wrong; I’m not saying that I’ve been mugging hard or what. The saturation is because there is only so much my little pea brain can take in.

I’m dreaming..

A mountain of work has come and gone. Such a relief… Right now, really gotta start revising for the exams if I wanna do relatively better than last semester. Especially since results will determine if I get to go on exchange and plays a part in the choice of university.

Stumbled upon the list of universities that are in an exchange partnership with NTU and been poring over the list. Ok, right now I have singled out Sweden, France and USA. I’m fine with going to any of these 3 countries, but France would be such a problem cos I can’t speak the language. So realistically speaking, France is not possible. So strike that out. Unless somehow I manage to find a French university that teaches in English.

Been harboring hopes of going to Spain, but I don’t find it on the list of approved schools. Plus the whole language problem once again.

So that leaves Sweden and USA. But oh gosh. I did a search of US colleges and universities and there must be a ga-zillion schools lah! Even after I narrowed down the search to communications and media, there were still 1000+ schools. I completely have no idea about USA cos previously I only did research on UK but UK’s hopeless for communications. Anyway currently, these schools are offering vacancies to my faculty: Central Michigan, Ithaca(!!!!!), Michigan State, Ohio Uni, Uni of Maryland, and Missouri-Columbia.. Daph, some advice pls.

As for Sweden, it’s most probably Jönköping University. Ah, can already imagine the snow and cold and just oh-so-amazing scenery..

I’m 22.

Met up with Gladys, Yuanting, Kel and Steff at Renaldo’s for apple strudel brunch on Saturday. They got me this tee from NewUrbanMale. Thanks guys! I love the tee, it just screams pussy cruelty! hahahaha.

Sunday, West Winds sang me a really out-of-tune birthday song after prac haahaha and received a Buble CD from Ruiting, thanks! I had dinner at Palm Beach, One Fullerton with my family and godparents. The food there is damn expens la. Fried fish for 50 bucks. And it was just a bloody silly fish swimming in soya sauce. Overall, the food wasn’t too good. We had the silly fish, steamed garlic prawns, asparagus with japanese mushrooms, stir fried kai-lan, absolutely yummy double baked cheese crabs (also an absolutely sinful indulgence), and herbal chicken. Definitely overpriced menu, just cos it sits at One Fullerton, overlooking the Merlion that pukes all day, 24/7.

Monday, skipped my first lecture as usual. Went to shower and after I got back, my room was packed full with my pals from CS hahaha. Really nice surprise from them. Janus, Chrong Meng, Christopher, Kenneth, Johnson, Sikeng, Joey, Shisi, Renita, Weiyi, Ai Ling, Nerissa, Maybel, haha all squeezed into my room while I was showering. Anyway thanks guys for the really LOUD present ahahaha. It was hilarious. Cos they bought me this huge alarm clock that is even bigger than my face. It’s really loud too. At first they told me to guess what it was but who could ever guess an alarm clock. I accidentally dropped it and then the alarm went off!!! ahaha i was damn shocked la. it was so so loud. And I haven’t been late for class ever since Monday ahahaha. Gosh.

Thanks Alvin for the cake and company at Fish and Co. with Kokster.

Also thanks to those who msged me with birthday greetings, appreciate u guys!

It’s been a happy week fer me!! Thank God fer friends =)
