I was on the bus to school that day and I saw that TV Mobile is celebrating their 5th anniversary this year. How ironic that Singapore proclaims to want to be No. 1 in everything and tries its very best to keep with Hong Kong, Japan, Korea etc. yet they will forever lag behind when it comes to technology. Sure, we ought to be proud of the whole biomedical and silicon wafer sectors, but when it comes to the media, I’m sorry to say that Singapore is way off the leaderboard. 5th anniversary and I don’t see improvements to the reception of TV Mobile. “Mobile” being the hugest irony here.
It is not very encouraging every time my Profs talk about how we are going to be at the forefront of the media industry, and decide the future of Media21. I find it really hard to envision Singapore turning into a media hub. In my opinion, Singapore has always and probably will always rely on others to succeed.
